Acoustical Consultant
Our client, Western Canada’s leading acoustical consultancy, is seeking a full-time Acoustical Consultant to join their dynamic team in Metro Vancouver, BC. With over 50 years of industry experience, they deliver expert solutions in architectural acoustics and environmental noise and vibration, serving a diverse range of sectors including commercial, institutional, healthcare, education, industry, transportation, entertainment, arts, and residential development.
About the Role
As an Acoustical Consultant, you’ll apply your technical knowledge and project management skills across a variety of complex and high-impact projects. Key Areas of Expertise
- Architectural Acoustics: Room acoustics, sound isolation, HVAC noise control, and vibration isolation of equipment.
- Environmental Acoustics: Outdoor noise propagation, baseline monitoring, impact assessments, and public engagement for major infrastructure projects.
- Project Delivery: Experience in traditional design-bid-build, design-build, and public-private partnership (P3) frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Deliver technical expertise on current and upcoming projects.
- Lead projects from start to finish—proposal development, field measurements, data analysis, acoustic modeling, and final reporting.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external teams.
- Present findings clearly and professionally to clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Serve as an ambassador for the firm in client and regulatory interactions.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior team members.
Qualifications
- 4–6 years of consulting experience in acoustics.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Acoustics, or a related field.
- Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng. or equivalent).
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, acoustics software, and drafting tools.
- Hands-on experience with sound and vibration measurement equipment.
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment in a consulting environment.
- Previous experience in a consulting firm is an asset.
